The swimming jockstrap serves two purposes. The support prevents injuries and the coverage prevents embarrassment. You can find swimming jockstraps at sports and underwear stores. Prices start at $10.
Basics
Swim jockstraps provide extra protection under your swimming trunks. Men’s swimming trunks may come with a lining. However, it is typically a loose-fitting thin material with thin elastic around the legs. The lining does not provide SWIMMING POOL SETTLE protection against unintentional exposure and is neither supportive. Swim jockstraps come with a strong elastic waistband, leg straps and a front pouch to hold everything in place.
Other uses
Jockstraps for swimming can also be used to do exercises or other sports on dry ground. These are different from traditional jockstraps because they have pouch materials. This is a lightweight, quick-drying, stretchy and open-knit material rather than a thickly woven material which would take longer to dry. You might find that the elastic at your waist and legs of jockstraps that are not intended for swimming are thicker than what your swimsuit covers.
Sizing
The sizes range from small to large and are determined by the length of your waistband in inches. Although the sizing does NOT indicate the size of the pouch, the front pouches are usually larger for jockstraps that have larger waistbands. If your pouch is too small but your waistband is snug, you can adjust the size of your waistband to make it more comfortable. A pouch that is too small can cause discomfort and not provide the support and coverage you require.
Take into Account
Choose a swimming jockstrap which fits comfortably, smoothly, and completely below your swim trunks. There are many brands that have different cut options, so not every brand will work with your swimsuit. You don’t have to accept the idea of a swimming jocks. There are other options that can provide support and coverage. You can get support without the jockstrap by wearing a tight-fitting nylon or Lycra suit. This can be worn alone or under loose-fitting trunks. You can get adequate coverage with board shorts and long swimming trunks, but not all of these have linings or support.
